Square Enix är besvikna på Forspokens försäljning och hoppas att NFT skall rädda dagen

Recensioner från både kritiker och spelare har varit minst sagt svala när det kommer till fantasy-äventyret Forspoken, en titel som utgivaren Square Enix hoppats en hel del på. Bolagets boss Yosuke Matsuda sätter nu istället sitt hopp till kommande NFT-projekt som planeras lanseras senare i år och beskrev Forspoken som en "stor besvikelse" när han nyligen talade till investerare.

"Reviews of Forspoken, which we released on January 24, 2023, have been challenging, its sales have been lackluster, and while the performance of new titles with February and March release dates will be the ultimate determinant, we see considerable downside risk to our FY2022/3 earnings,"

Matsuda pratade även om kommande projekt och nämnde specifikt NFT som ett ljus i mörkret.

"We have organized our pipeline so that we will have a good spread of new releases in FY2025/3 and beyond as well, we also hope that you will look forward to the blockchain games we plan to launch in FY2024/3 and thereafter."

Nej det lär knappast bli någon uppföljare på Forspoken, speciellt inte efter att dess utvecklare Luminous Productions blivit upplösta och absorberade in i Square Enix.
