Netflix utannonserar den animerade filmen The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

Förutom att säsong 4 av The Witcher, där Liam Hemsworth tagit över stafettpinnen från Henry Cavill som Geralt of Rivia, är på gång, utannonserade Netflix igår ytterligare en produktion. Det rör sig om en animerad långfilm, måhända i kölvattnet av andra framgångsrika, animerade speladaptioner som Arcane, Castlevania och Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, som filmen heter, baseras på Andrzej Sapkowski's novell A Little Sacrifice från 2015 års samling Sword of Destiny. Handlingen beskrivs såhär:

"Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must count on friends -- old and new -- to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war."

Och så den kanske mest brinnande frågan: Vem röstskådespelar Geralt? Tack och lov är det den för många redan välbekanta Doug Cockle, känd från spelserien, som här återvänder. Tillsammans med honom kommer Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra ta plats, kända som Jaskier respektive Yennefer i Netflix-serien. Christina Wren (Man of Steel och Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) kommer å sin tur att spela Essi Daven.

Cockle uttalade sig nyligen om rollen:
"I am super excited to announce my return to the world of the Witcher voicing Geralt of Rivia once again, but this time in the upcoming animated feature The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. It's been an honour to work with Studio Mir and Netflix on this new animated film and I'm thrilled to be able to share this next chapter of the White Wolf's journey with fans of the Witcher universe. Mire taedh aen stráede!"

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep planeras att släppas någon gång sent 2024, och det är Netflix-studion MIR (The Legend of Korra och Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender) som ligger bakom animationsarbetet. Kolla in teasern nedan.
